OPERATIONS w/ rose arch

in the first operation we remove our hands

when i am outside of the arch
not beneath it not looking
no I can't barely
look at you
i mean no
its the rose arch that
i can't look at
there are swerves in attitude
in dust
chalk the dust to your finger
i met a girl
who so young
who so old
she told me
keep my hands clean
she told me to wash my hands
also to touch only skin forever
when i am outside of the arch
if i am to put a ring of marigold
around anything
i'll remember that i rivulet
under the arch
i want nothing to refer to
but another life
a loaf, of our hands
sucking blood sun and fury
gushing a flash flood
of medical grade love
have you ever needed
an operation
have you ever worn gloves
over your hands
what if we touch with gloves on
what if we don't use our hands
i have an idea for a porch light
we hold tiny fires to our faces
we get them all over our hands
we need to survive
with all of these necks
increasing in length
i took an old pumpkin from the river
it was cut in half
the other fell away
dissolved in water
watching me
trying to sky
trying to sky you
trying to loop water
to sky your gauze air
by the river's lap
we need to survive love;
we don't neet to
pour it down our throats
