A Living Situation (thoughts/plans)

1.

I would like to move into an empty storefront with big windows in a non-sleek part of town. I would live out of the storefront and bathe in the sink. I would walk everywhere. I would like to take 3 months of living this way to explore things through art actions. I want to investigate music, public art practice, social art practice, the built environment, nature/wilderness, the city, capitalism and alternative economic systems, poetry,  propaganda/advertisement, "the everyday," wandering, the political act of looking, the political act of being present, the formation of community, and more. I would like for this Living Situation to take the place of any other residence I would have for the duration of the stay.

2.

I would like to move into anything anywhere that is an unconventional space for a person to live in. I could squat in something abandoned, I have thought of that idea. A storefront makes sense to me because I think I could get one by telling an owner that I would make art in it for a while. A large empty room or room full of stuff would be good too. Tall ceilings. Box shaped. Maybe a quonset hut? Or an empty stall in Crossroads Mall? Wherever I would be, the space and the conditions of the space (why it is there, what it is for, who uses it, who used it, why, what they did, how did it become vacant or abandoned, what is taking place now that it has changed into an abandoned place, what does a person entering and using the space for art mean now, how can the place serve the ecology of the area via my actions, who owns a vacancy, what does it do to psychology to see things full vs empty.....) would become the materials and the means for working them out.  The range I would be wandering through would become the larger physical context for the works, providing the problem and the solution.

3.

I would like to inhabit temporarily a space that is has been empty for a while.

(i found one, i think it is called one_ghost_tree, and it is full of what was once me or at least old coordinates. use to increase self-awareness, do not be afraid of that which has passed...)

Reading list:
trash
The Hidden Dimension - Edward T. Hall
all about klara liden - "With a squatter’s ingenuity, Klara Liden finds opportunities for her sly, poetic assertions of autonomy in the unpoliced moments and discarded materials of cities." artforum
foucault, hardt, negri, arendt, field guides, "all my relations," ranciere, bachelard, paul hanson clark

Build clothes to suit. Clothes will contain various texts & tools. Moth technology. To remain free. To seek free break free free free. TOOL BELT
distribute language  try to improve communication/make communications possible through a hole in the wall through a window? passageways and such created with maps of course. stairs bridges lines of transgression built angles stacks of trash involve children. plant prairie on roof like sod houses. Use the materials gathered for Open Survey Works- a tool kit like this could be useful at first or to break up a sense of insularity within the project. Bringing in material from other sources would have to function as part of the dialog, especially considering that I am a foreign body.

6. it would be best if i read no "art texts" that sit on my shelves save negri's "art and multitude" and perhaps more of ranciere's thought on the anonymous and the common. i want to dig closer to theory and of course ecology.

7. what about that building on dodge street that is across from children's hospital? thinking about how i could use that space to effectively discuss economics, property, love, heart what? in omaha. what about working out of it. exploring conversation with the owner of the building through letters or emails that would ask if i could use the space for art
it could become an essayistic piece
i could create a fictional interlocutor
or i could just go with the real one - if i can find them
