over-steeped black tea keeps coming up
in conversation-- everyone declares,
"it's so bitter"
when it is left in the mesh ball for so long
in the hot water, cooling off until bitter
and cold.
what then, add honey? grout? barnacle dust?
the menu is infinite. it's what you consider
'good to drink' that isn't.
for instance, i have considered
sending a leech down my throat to gorge itself
on my blood and guts.
i don't call this a meal,
i call it an attitude.
