uplifting presentation today by Trevor Reese, an artist who just moved to Philadelphia with his wife & they set up a gallery there & put out a neat publication!!

one of trevor's pieces is currently being maintained by gallery attendants at the eisentranger-howard gallery @ richard's hall at unl. here's a picture of it:

the plant is really high in the corner, and alive, in need of care. he didn't seem to mind if nobody noticed it was there or not. he described seeing it as a kind of "discovery bonus" in the total gallery experience. i liked that.

he has another piece that is similar, where a gallery attendant gets to eat a piece of fresh fruit every day. i think trevor reese likes when things are taken care of well, including people, plants, mountains...

the tv in the kick drum has a video of trevor in a tree, drumming.

some of trevor's work includes text, though he said he's moved away from that now. but still, one of his text pieces was included in an exhibition by aaron krach called 'artists who use text to say nice things.'
that was in 2009. krach's essay 'sushi on the upper west side' is a great accompaniment. it reminds me of israel's current YES-manifesto which i can't wait to be drenched in when we live together starting in less than two weeks omg.

trevor's presentation made me remember that working outward is important, and thinking of ways to spread positive things around. last summer i was putting up those 'farm your destiny' kids everywhere, and it really felt good to add beauty and positive messages to the neighborhood where i live. now that spring is here, it is time for more outdoor art for everyone. let's plant sunflowers everywhere!
