Carolina Hesse Honegger

There was a nice article about Cornelia Hesse Hoenneger's scientific illustration in the magazine Orion a few months back. Her work distills the "morphologically disturbed" insects present in the fallout areas of Chernobyl as well as near nuclear installations. It is challenging to view the insects as she draws them, I felt pity for the ones with too-short wings, missing legs, twisted abdomens. Enlarging the visible damage to these insect populations serves as a scientific, artistic & political statement.
